Bulk Ship and Trade Ltd (BSTL) was founded in 2002 with a vision to become a leader in the shipping and maritime industry in Ghana. Over the past two decades, BSTL has grown from a small agency focused on local shipping needs to a well-established company with an international reputation for excellence. Specializing in shipping agency services, cargo handling, and husbandry services, BSTL has continually evolved to meet the changing demands of the maritime sector. 2002
Establishment of BST

Bulk Ship and Trade Ltd was founded in Accra, Ghana, with a focus on providing shipping agency services. Initially, the company handled vessel operations for local and regional clients, establishing a reputation for efficiency and reliability in a growing market.

2005
Expansion into Cargo Services

BSTL expanded its services beyond shipping agency operations by offering cargo handling and logistics solutions. This marked the company's first major foray into international shipping contracts, handling dry bulk and petroleum cargoes for global clients.

2009
Opening of Tema Operations Office

To better serve the needs of the maritime industry, BSTL opened a Tema Operations Office, located near Ghana’s primary port. This strategic move strengthened the company’s operational capabilities, allowing faster response times and better coordination with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and other local maritime entities.

2010
Entry into the Petroleum Sector

BSTL broadened its service offerings to include the petroleum sector, managing the transportation and handling of petroleum products. This marked the beginning of long-term partnerships with Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) and international energy firms, driving growth in the company’s service portfolio.

2012
Introduction of Husbandry Services

BSTL diversified its offerings by introducing husbandry services, which provided essential support for vessels and crew during their port stay. Services such as crew management, provisioning, emergency response, and vessel maintenance became integral parts of BSTL’s operations.

2014
Global Partnerships and Industry Growth

BSTL formed key partnerships with major international shipping and energy companies such as Petrobras, Mercuria, and Vitol. These collaborations enabled the company to expand its influence globally and solidified its standing as a trusted maritime service provider.

2016
Takoradi Office Established

Responding to growing demand in the Western Region of Ghana, BSTL opened an office in Takoradi, further expanding its footprint in Ghana’s petroleum and industrial sectors. The Takoradi office played a pivotal role in servicing the region's rising industrial and petroleum activities.

2018
10,000th Vessel Handled

BSTL reached a major milestone by managing its 10,000th vessel operation, cementing its place as a key player in the shipping industry. This milestone reflected the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, efficient services while growing its operations in tandem with the region’s maritime development.

2021
Launch of Integrated Logistics Solutions

BSTL introduced an integrated logistics management system designed to streamline the supply chain, optimize port services, and enhance warehousing and transportation efficiency. This new service allowed clients to benefit from comprehensive, end-to-end logistics support.

2023
15,000 Vessels Managed and Growing:

As of 2023, BSTL successfully managed over 15,000 vessel operations, further solidifying its leadership position in the maritime sector. With its strong network of global partners and comprehensive service offerings, BSTL continues to set industry standards for operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
